Route: The Via Francigena is a pilgrimage route from Canterbury Cathedral to Rome, taking as its inspiration the journey made in 990 AD by Sigeric, Archbishop of Canterbury. We start in Shepherdswell, then hike along the North Downs Way through remote countryside, hearing stories about pilgrimages and Anglo-Saxon culture. We finish in Dover, catching the train back to Shepherdswell.
Refreshments and toilets available at the beginning and end of the walk.
