Via Francigena: Canterbury to Shepherdswell

Route: The Via Francigena is a pilgrimage route from Canterbury Cathedral to Rome, taking as its inspiration the journey made in 990 AD by Sigeric, Archbishop of Canterbury.  We start in Canterbury, then hike along the North Downs Way through remote countryside, visiting the beautiful Norman church of St. Mary in Patrixbourne, and hearing stories about pilgrimages and Anglo-Saxon culture.  We finish in Shepherdswell, catching the train back to Canterbury.

Refreshments and toilets available at the beginning and end of the walk.
